Spring Show 21st March 2009

spring09.JPG

Two weeks of milder weather finally brought us a flavour of spring and gave the daffodils the boost they needed before the show. Consequently we had a fabulous show with a grand display of daffodils, floral art and cookery.

The cookery section was partcularly well entered and not without it's challenges. The difference between flans and tarts, cakes and cake pieces, and just the right amount of onion providing much discussion. Stephanie, our Show Secretary, has been putting a lot of work in with the Judges to try to bring greater clarification to the cookery classes for future shows to help our exhibitors. Glad Deamer's fabulous Simnel Cake won the Smart Plate.

Pam Walton presented the prizes which included the new junior trophy, the Walton Cup, named in memory of Bob Walton. Rhiannon Boyle was the first winner for her decorated hard boiled egg. No Daffodil Bronze Medal was awarded but Paul Edwards won the Best Bloom award and the Garden Lovers Cup. Pam Walton Received a Daffodil Society Diploma.  A full list of Trophy Winners is on our website.

We welcome first time exhibitors!

If you would like to try your hand at showing your produce and are unsure how to proceed, a member of our committee or the Show Secretary can give you some pointers.
